Tanbark is innovating Maine’s legacy pulp and paper industry to replace single-use plastic with Type 3 molded fiber, which features the same properties of plastic but is made from sustainably produced biomass making it home compostable. Fiber molding was born in Maine and the state has a legacy of harvesting wood and building paper machinery.
In addition to an abundance of wood pulp, Maine offers plentiful human resources in terms of lumbermen, wood processors, designers, indigenous knowledge, and technologists.
